Calendar to help King’s Lynn incinerator battle

7th December 2012 - the following article is reproduced by kind permission of Lynn News

Campaigners against plans to build an incinerator on the edge of Lynn are hoping their second cartoon calendar will boost their fighting fund for February’s public inquiry.

A limited edition of 1,000 copies of the King’s Lynn Without Incineration lobby group’s 2013 calendar, We said No, are on sale, at £5 each, from today (Friday) at the Lynn News front office in Purfleet Street and the KLWIN stall in Broad Street.

The calendars will also be available at tomorrow’s (Saturday) second indoor Christmas Market, from 9am to 5pm, at Fairgreen Farms in Hill Road, Fair Green, Middleton, where there will also be stalls, live harp music and carols from a choral group. Last year’s event proved hugely popular.

Local artist and illustrator Alan Castleton, who has supported the fight against the Saddlebow project, has again provided the cartoons for the calendar, designed by Nightshift Graphics, of Terrington St Clement. He will be at tomorrow’s fair to personally sign copies of the calendar for those buying them.

Michael de Whalley, from KLWIN, said: “This calendar is something quite special and very locally orientated. The money from it will go into the fighting fund to prepare for the public inquiry in February and making our case as good as possible.

“The more we can raise, the better the chance we have of persuading the inspector the incinerator is not wanted here.”
